There are three types of inquires you can make when calling Grow Free TN (GFTN) about a youth who may have experienced trafficking.
1. Report: This applies to you if you work for DCS, CPS, Law Enforcement, TBI or FBI. If you would like to let GFTN know about a youth who has experienced trafficking but the youth or child does not need services at this time. It is mandated by DCS policy to report any child that you may suspect has experienced trafficking regardless of if the child is in need of services or not. You can call our hotline or place in the notes on the online form if you are only calling to make a report.
2. Referral: If you are working with a youth who has experienced trafficking and would like to ask GFTN to provide services please indicate you would like to make a referral to services. This process starts with an assessment for appropriateness of services by a GFTN staff member. A GFTN staff member will reach out to you within 24-48 hours to discuss any information needed to complete an assessment with the youth in person. Note: GFTN staff may ask you to send a CANS or FAST assessment to speed up the process and not duplicate questions when with the youth. Please be prepared to provide that information.
3. HT consult: If you are working with a youth who you suspect may have experienced trafficking or may be at risk for trafficking you can call our team to consult with you and all other service agencies/key players. This is helpful for those agencies that already provide services for the youth and want guidance on best practices but don’t necessarily need additional services through GFTN.
