A Knoxville native, Katie graduated from the University of Tennessee with bachelor’s degrees in technical communication, rhetoric and writing, and linguistics. She began her career in the social sector working for a Knoxville-based nonprofit to fund programs serving women and girls in the East Tennessee area, working simultaneously as a freelance writer and editor.
After volunteering for the Community Coalition in 2015, Katie officially joined the CCAHT team in early 2016. Katie is passionate about the power of words and how language can be used to shape cultures and unite communities. When she is not at CCAHT, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and trying to see as much of the world as possible.
